"Save. Me." They plead.
The swim instructor treads water and tries to encourage her. It is just a jump. With a teacher waiting to catch her. She quakes her head back and forth which sways the board more so she tries to sit down.
"No sitting." A lifeguard barks. Her job and my baby's emotions clash.
Another lifeguard climbs the short ladder and begins walking toward my Bird. The movement of a full size person arcs the board precariously. The lifeguard lifts Bird and drops her in the water where the instructor catches her but not until her head goes under. It needs to be realistic.

3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

I love that sentence: We start risking small and pray big. I can only imagine how tight your heart was at that moment. God bless!
ReplyDelete{Melinda} I want to be more of a risk taker. I want to trust God so fully that I'll walk off the diving board and plunge into the deep end, confident that my Savior will catch me. Fear often holds me back. I think the enemy uses it so effectively against each of us. But the more I do things that scare me, the more I experience God's sufficiency. And it gives me a little more boldness the next time. :)
ReplyDeleteRisking small and pray big. Love that! Risks are small when we know God is there to catch us in the deep end...
ReplyDeleteGreat 5 Min Write!
It is heartbreaking at times watching the reality of our world and praying praying praying praying for our children; mothering is painful. Grateful for His loving arms to sit in for comfort. Thanks for sharing, i'll be following....
ReplyDeleteOh, we learn to deepen our faith on the sidelines of watching children risk in order to grow. Mothering, its the school of learning to see ourselves through their eyes and then laying down the control we convinced ourselves we had in the beginning. I'm not sure that I have learned more from any other single thing than being a mother. It's risky business.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! I'm just now learning to let go a bit, to accept that my toddler has to handle some life on his own, and you captured that "starting small" process so perfectly.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post! very hard to let our kids go through anything even a little bit scary... You are a strong mommy! :)
ReplyDeleteShe's so brave!
ReplyDeleteOh that is hard! I get that momma bear mentality. It is hard to let them go to take that first (dive) step into life. Even harder for us to watch them take it.
ReplyDeleteReally like this! Your daughter is very brave, and so are you! Stopping by from SITS!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful psot.
