I'm
a resource person, an overthinker, an information collector, a
writer, and a grower (of plants and girls). I write to organize my
thoughts and I post them because I want to share things with you but
can't have tea and chat.
Pruning
Princesses is a blog for parents to get encouragement, ideas,
resources, and facts, especially if they are raising girls. Parenting
has to be intentional. And in our busy worlds, we need people to
remind of what it important.
God
sees your girl as a beautiful princess. Her beauty is not based on
outward appearance. And the world is going to teach her to look only
at the external. So we must guard her and guide her until her faith
is strong enough to automatically view the world and herself as God
does. I don't know how to accomplish this, but I can share what I
have learned along the way. I can talk to moms who have done
it, and share their insights (check out the mentor
moms
posts). This blog is for parents of God's princesses.
Last
year I finished my Master Gardener classes. I learned about pruning.
It is a very specific process, done at a specific time and in
specific places. All of us, young and old, need pruning. But as
parents, sometimes we need to make decisions and have conversations
that prune our girls. We need wisdom to prune at the right time and
place and wisdom to know when to step back and hand the clippers to
God. This blog is also about learning to prune.
I
hope you will share here too. Because mothering is much better in
community. While I primarily focus on girls, so much of mothering is
independent of the sex of our children. You are welcome regardless of
the gender of your favorite little life.
Some
basics. I've been married for 14 years to my math teacher husband.
We've lived in Iowa, Montana and now Michigan. My girls are red heads
with spunk. Bird is ten. Snuggle Bug is eight. For now, our pets are
two guinea pigs, Astro and Nibbles and a parrot named Buster. I care
for my house and family, garden, write, and substitute teach.
I
am so glad you are here. I hope you will take time to comment, either
here or on Facebook so I can get to know you.
